Shyam Singha Roy — A film that deeply moves you !
I’m in lack of words to express how well this film depicted the caste system, religion, Devadasi system and all the superstitions we had in India in the past. Some of the superstitions are still prevailing and this movie takes us back to those social reform moments and those leaders who fought for all these social causes back then and helped in creating a better future for most of us living in the current India. Although many of them still don’t have the previlege and still there are many who are suffering from this social stigma.
This movie shows us how many Devadasis have suffered in the past and their lives and the love they deserve has lost behind those temple walls. And how the families of people who fought back couldn’t take it because of the lost in pride when that pride was defined as keeping their mouths shut and following the insane rules set by those cruel people.
It also shows the impact of a writer and the change one could bring in by opposing and fighting for the equality.
A big take away is if you’re someone who still believes in caste system, religion, gender inequality, untouchability and any of the superstitions, then please open your eyes and believe that we’re all humans and we’re gonna die one day leaving behind all of these. So keep all this shit way from your lives and if you see someone following these then educate them and help in creating a better world for the present and future generations. Remember that any change should come from within first. We’re not defined by our caste, religion, region or anything else, we’re all humans and what matters is bringing some positive change and spreading some love and empathy in the society by helping it back through eradicating all these meaningless social stigmas and superstitions. Take a moment to be grateful for all those social reformers who fought for all these by which they helped many of us lead a better life now. Though Shyam Singha Roy is a fictional character, we want more people like him in our real lives when it comes to fighting for equal rights and opportunities. This is one such movie which helps you in gaining perspectives about socio-economic issues and takes you back to some of the historical social causes.
